Frank de Boer vows to battle on at Crystal Palace after fourth league loss

Frank de Boer said he would fight on as Crystal Palace manager after their fourth straight Premier League defeat of the season at Burnley.

An awful early blunder from Lee Chung-yong gifted the home side a third-minute lead they never relinquished despite a much-improved performance by a Palace side without a league goal this season.

Record signing Chris Wood marked his home league debut by pouncing on Lee's error to seal a 1-0 win for the Clarets.

De Boer's position is set to come under further scrutiny this week, but the coach said: "I am just focusing on what I can control and so are my staff and my players.

"It [the future] is for other people to decide. but while I'm the manager of Crystal Palace I will give 100 percent."

De Boer was left to rue a series of missed chances, with Scott Dann heading wide from point-blank range late on.

But he said: "We have to reward ourselves and we didn't do that today. I am disappointed about the result but I am not disappointed about how we played.

"I think this is the starting point, because usually if you create that many chances against any opponent you will get what you deserve, and today we didn't.

"But we have to look in the mirror and be responsible that you have to take the chances, and you get punished when you don't.

"But what we showed today gives us a lot of hope for the future."

His Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche said: "I don't think any manager wants sympathy, but I thought they were the better side and they deserved something from the game."
