Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang must speak at Dortmund bomb trial - judge

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang must appear as a witness in the trial of Sergej W, charged with carrying out a bomb attack on Borussia Dortmund's team bus last year.

Former BVB star Aubameyang had been set to appear as a witness at Dortmund's district court on Monday, two days before the end of the winter transfer window.

However, the Gabon international was excused with a doctor's certificate to the annoyance of judge Peter Windgatter and public prosecutor Carsten Dombert, with the latter saying: "Justice will not put up with it."

As the trial continued in Dortmund on Friday, Windgatter said Aubameyang would not be fined for not appearing on Monday.

However, the striker will have to speak in the case and Dombert said: "Regardless, we will not relinquish this witness.

"Either he will be here in person next time or there will be a video hearing in London."

The trial against Sergej W is set to continue on Feb. 22. If convicted, he could face a life sentence.
