That’s the verdict of footballer-turned-pundit Alejandro Moreno, who’s revealed his take while speaking to ESPN FC.

Batshuayi arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer in a deal worth around £30m from Ligue 1 giants Marseille.

And he found chances hard to come by during his first year in west London, with Diego Costa Antonio Conte’s go-to hitman.

Batshuayi remains second-choice at Chelsea following Morata’s July switch from Real Madrid.

Moreno doesn’t believe the Belgian is capable of stepping up in place of Morata though.

Moreno said: "Certainly at the striker position they are not [deep enough].

"They have issues there and Alvaro Morata being injured and now you put Batshuayi there.

"Whoever thought Batshuayi would be the answer to being the alternative to Alvaro Morata or Diego Costa were sorely mistaken."

Journalist Julien Laurens echoed Moreno’s thoughts, suggesting Conte doesn’t trust Batshauyi.

He said: "I’m not sure Tammy Abraham is more ready than Michy Batshuayi.

"He has worked under Antonio Conte for a bit more than a season.

"But what’s true is that Conte doesn’t trust Batshuayi and Batshuayi is not doing well enough to be able to replace Alvaro Morata.

"Abraham is another option, maybe a more suited one. But I’m not sure, they should have bought another striker in the summer, that’s for sure."
