Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp must complete three major signings in the near future.

That’s according to Reds legend John Aldridge who believes Klopp must bolster his attack and defence.

He told Sky Sports: “We do need a goalscorer that is going to get 20 goals plus. I’ve been saying that for some time now.

“We need a leader at the back. Not with one but perhaps two centre-halves in the next 12 months.”

Liverpool are still intent on signing Southampton star Virgil van Dijk.

The Holland international appeared set to move to Anfield last summer until the Reds were accused of tapping the 26-year-old defender up in June.

Last week Van Dijk revealed he is still interested in quitting the Saints when the transfer window reopens.

And the Daily Mail claim Liverpool still see him as a ‘prime objective’ in their transfer plans.

Liverpool star Sadio Mane faces up to six weeks out after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Senegal.

A club statement said: "Sadio Mane is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury on international duty, Liverpool FC can confirm.

"The winger was substituted 89 minutes into Senegal's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday.

"And it has now been confirmed that he picked up an injury during that fixture that could keep him out of action for up to six weeks.

"Mane, whose lay-off will commence when Manchester United visit Anfield on Saturday, has scored three goals in five Premier League appearances this term."
