The talented right-back joined the Red Devils from Torino in 2015.

He initially impressed under Louis van Gaal’s stewardship.

However, following the appointment of Jose Mourinho 12 months later he fell down the pecking order.

Last season he played just 18 Premier League games under the Portuguese.

Despite his lack of first-team football, the 27-year-old says he has no regrets.

“I don’t regret the decision I took,” he said.

“I would make the same decision over and over again.

“Obviously like every footballer I would like to be playing as much as possible, but I am working hard, putting in the effort and trying to make the manager’s decisions difficult, and I’ll continue to do that.”

Given his peripheral role at Old Trafford, Darmian has been linked with a return to Italy.

And the experienced ace refused to cool speculation that he could move back to his homeland.

“I won’t deny that I always watch Italian football and I don’t know what will happen in the future,” he added.

“If there is an opportunity to return, then I’ll make the necessary evaluations.”
