The England U21 star struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge last season.

He was a peripheral figure and made just six appearances in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of England’s hottest prospects.

However, Loftus-Cheek says he hasn’t been told by Conte that he features in his long-term plans.

When asked if the Italian chief has told him he’ll get his chance at Chelsea next season, Loftus-Cheek said: “Not at all.

“But I don’t think it’s right to because you never know how I’ll preform this season. So, right now I’m just literally focused on Palace.

“He [Conte] said I need to play games. Chelsea is a big club and there’s a lot of pressure which I understand.

“For me, I think it was the right time for me to go away from Chelsea right now and get my game time elsewhere.”

Palace are languishing at the bottom of the table and are yet to record a win this season.

Roy Hodgson has now taken over the Selhurst Park hot seat after Frank de Boer was axed after just a few weeks in charge.

Despite the turmoil in south London, Loftus-Cheek says he’s enjoying his time at the Eagles and is pleased with Hodgson’s recent appointment.

“I’m really just enjoying playing, that’s the main thing for me at the moment,” added Loftus-Cheek who was speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 18.

“I just want to play as many games as possible and improve.

“For me right now I’m happy. I know we haven’t made the best of starts, but we have to try and fight – and I want to stay and fight with Palace.

“It’s good for Roy to come in, and as players we think we’re going to turn it around.

“As players we need to believe that. No one says it’s going to be easy, but we’re going to work hard on the training pitch every day and I truly think we have the capability to turn things around.

“It’s a good squad, we just need to bring the best out of them.”

Palace face high-flying Manchester City at the Etihad tomorrow afternoon.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 18, which is out on September 29th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and all other platforms. To pre-order your Deluxe Edition, head to https://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/buy/united-kingdom
