The 28-year-old has not featured since the Gunners' 3-0 win over Bournemouth two weeks ago.

He has been left out of Arsenal's squad for the clashes with Cologne, Chelsea and Doncaster.

But the playmaker took to Instagram on Wednesday to give his followers an update on his recovery.

In his post, Ozil can be seen doing pull-ups in the gym with the caption: 'Good news: I'm back training on the pitch. As you might have heard I'm suffering from a minor inflammation of my knee.'

He also added: 'Feeling better each day now and hope to be back playing very soon!'

Ozil has received criticism from former Arsenal players over his performances this season.

He also took to social media a few weeks ago to condemn the negative comments about his form.

The former Real Madrid man is now facing a race against time to be fit for Arsenal's clash with West Brom on Monday evening (8pm).

Jack Wilshere may replace Ozil for the Premier League clash.

The midfielder completed his first 90 minutes for the club in 1093 days on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal beat Doncaster 1-0 through a Theo Walcott goal to book a place in the fourth-round against Norwich.
