The Sun say Gomes remains at top target for Spurs chief Maurico Pochettino.

The Spaniard was on the cusp of a move to north London in January.

But a move failed to materialise as Spurs tried to get a deal through on deadline day.

Gomes could still swap Catalonia for Wembley, though.

The Sun say a New Year raid is on the cards.

Gomes, who only joined Barca from Valencia last summer, suffered a stop-start campaign last season.

He is not part of Ernseto Valverde’s plans for this season and needs to revive his flagging career.

Barkley has also been tipped as a potential arrival at Tottenham.

However, The Sun reckon Gomes will be viewed as a more cost-effective option.

He could be available for around £20m, or Barcelona might sanction a loan move.

Barkley, despite his refusal to sign a new Everton deal, would cost Pochettino considerably more.
