The superstar Swede has re-joined the Red Devils after his one-year contract expired over the summer.

He looked set for an extension towards the end of the season but picked up a serious knee injury in April.

He is not expected back for some time but he has been handed a squad number for when he returns.

The 35-year-old took to Instagram to confirm the news.

Along with a picture of his new shirts, he wrote: "I never left, I just upgraded my number."

Ibrahimovic wants to carry on playing until he turns 40 - and will put off his coaching badges to do so, according to reports.

An Old Trafford source told The Sun: “Zlatan had been doing a bit with his badges while he made his comeback from injury.

“The club have indicated there could be a role for him here at some point.

“He isn’t getting any younger after all.

“He has a lot of belief in himself though and thinks he could play until he is 40, so will take his time with his licences.”
