That’s according to European transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims the Red Devils are yet to meet Inter’s valuation of the winger.
Perisic emerged as one of the names on Jose Mourinho’s shopping list alongside Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof towards the end of last season.
And Starsport understands negotiations have been ongoing all summer in a bid to thrash out a deal to take him to United.
Inter want almost £50m to part with Perisic, or Anthony Martial to join them on loan for the 2017/18 campaign to lower their asking price.
And that’s meant a stalemate has ensued with the 28-year-old no closer to joining United.
Di Marzio has now hinted Inter are looking to make the most of the stand-off by tying Perisic down.
And he claims the next few days could be decisive as they try to get him to put pen to paper.
Inter are apparently putting pressure on Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, to get things sorted.
And United look to be running out of time to sign him unless they pay the big bucks.
Mourinho has insisted he will not be angry if Old Trafford chiefs fail to land his fourth target, Perisic, though.
