Solanke was not offered a new deal by Chelsea at the end of last season and Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to snap up the talented striker.

He hasn't played much first-team football in his fledgling career so far having made just one appearance for Chelsea's senior side.

Reds fans got a glimpse of Solanke's capabilities when England won the U20 World Cup in June and he finished as the tournament's top goalscorer.

The 19-year-old was initially signed with the intention of continuing his development with the U23 side this upcoming season.

But Jurgen Klopp has been hugely impressed by Solanke's performance during pre-season and there are rumours from Merseyside that he has moved ahead of Divock Origi in the pecking order at Anfield.

And former Liverpool star Redknapp believes the teenager is one of the biggest talents to watch out for this season - and has even backed him for an England call-up.

"There has been a lot of talk about Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic leaving but in the long term, Solanke’s departure could be the one Chelsea regret the most," Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

"When I first met him two years ago he told me he models his game on Costa.

"He wants to be an aggressive centre forward and will be licking his lips at the chances Liverpool will create for him.

"He may not start many games early on, but as the season progresses he will have a big part to play. Don’t rule out an England call-up."
