The Belgian had his breakthrough season back in 2013/14 when he made 27 appearances for the Red Devils under then-manager David Moyes.

But he fell out of favour with Louis Van Gaal and eventually was farmed out on loan initially to Borussia Dortmund and then Sunderland.

This summer he moved permanently to La Liga club Real Sociedad for a reported fee of £9.8m.

And it looks like a great move for the 22-year-old after footage emerged of him producing some dazzling skills for his new club.

In the footage he nutmegs one opponent before dribbling past another with ease.

It made Man Utd fans wistful over the player, with some accusing Van Gaal of not giving him enough of a chance.

One wrote: “Still don't know how Lingard got a chance and Januzaj didn’t.”

In a reference to Paul Pogba, Another added: “Adnan Januzaj - Man Utd to Real Sociedad (£9.8m). Bargain price. Will re-sign for Man Utd for £300m in 2020.”

It comes as Jose Mourinho admitted the side were behind Europe’s best and could take two years to reach the top again.
