The Red Devils succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in the International Champions Cup last night (July 26).

But it could have been a lot worse for Jose Mourinho’s men were it not for De Gea’s heroics between the sticks.

And it was one particular moment that stood out.

Near the end of the first half, the ball was lobbed up to Suarez and it fell to his feet after a poor header from Victor Lindelof.

With brilliant adjustment of his feet, the striker then managed to fire a powerful shot at goal.

It looked like the perfect strike but the Spaniard had other ideas.

Despite barely any reaction time, De Gea managed to dive to his right and palm away the ball with a strong hand.

United fans watching the moment praised the outstanding save.

“Man, if it wasn't for De Gea, the score would have been 3-0 by now. Great save, Dave,” one wrote.

Another added: “We would be so screwed without him.”

And a third referenced the keeper’s ongoing links to Spanish giants Real Madrid, saying: “He could be doing that for you, Real Madrid.”

According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, such a move could happen this window.

They claim that De Gea is keen to join Zinedine Zidane’s side if they sell their shot-stopper Keylor Navas.
