The French forward has been the subject of huge speculation over where he will play next season following his amazing breakthrough year at Monaco.

He scored 26 times for the Ligue 1 team last season, helping them reach the Champions League semi-final and claim the French league title for the first time in 17 years.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the player, with Marca reporting Arsene Wenger put in a whopping £123m bid for the 18-year-old.

And fans would have been excited when Mbappe took to his Instagram account promising a “big announcement”.

But it wasn’t quite what everyone expected.

Arsenal target Kylian Mbappe made a "big announcement" about his future on Instagram

Speaking in French, the teen starlet says: “ As you know, over the past few weeks, my name has been associated with different things, different rumours.

“I think it's important for me to keep you in the loop and give you an update. I have reflected a lot with my family and weighed up the pros and cons.”

At this point Gunners fans are wild with anticipation but are soon to be very disappointed.

The Monaco player pranked everyone after revealing he was talking about his boots

He continues: “We have reached a decision and it is that this season, I will be playing with...the Mercurial Vapours!"

Mbappe then produces a pair of the football boots revealing he’d been trolling everyone.

Some fans found the funny side but there were plenty of expletive-laden comments under his post as supporters failed to laugh at the prank.

It comes as new Arsenal signing and fellow Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette was left red-faced by Aaron Ramsey during training.
