Jose Mourinho’s United have been heavily linked with Real Madrid striker Morata for several months.

While a host of reports have claimed the Spaniard will join United this summer, Mourinho and co have decided against signing him.

United have instead agreed a stunning £75m deal with Everton to sign Belgian forward Lukaku.

That transfer has seen United end their long-running pursuit of Morata and The Mirror claim Chelsea could take advantage.

Chelsea have also been keeping tabs on Lukaku this summer with Antonio Conte keen to lure him back to Stamford Bridge.

United’s quickfire swoop for the Toffees star has left Chelsea in limbo as they seek to sign a new centre-forward.

The Blues need a new striker after Conte’s bust-up with Diego Costa and they have shown interest in Morata in the past.

The Mirror report that the door is open for Conte and co to go after the Real ace during the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

It is understood that Real will demand upwards of £75m for their 24-year-old ace but Chelsea would have such funds at their disposal.

And Conte has grown frustrated at the Premier League champions’ lack of activity in the current market.

A mega-money deal for Morata would no doubt appease the Italian tactician and fill the void left by Costa’s impending exit.
