Arsenal admit there is no timeframe for Santi Cazorla's injury return

But the Gunners have played down rumours that the Spaniard could never play for the club again.

Cazorla has been out of action since last October after suffering a number of complications with an achilles problem.

The 32-year-old still faces several weeks out and his long-term future at Arsenal has been called into doubt following his injury hell.

The midfielder recently revealed that he'll remain on the sidelines until at least November.

But the London Evening Standard claim Arsenal believe Cazorla’s rehabilitation is still on track.

The club are not pencilling in a date for his comeback but Arsene Wenger is confident he will have his star to call upon next season.

Cazorla signed a new one-year contract with Arsenal earlier this year despite his fitness woes.

He has hoped to play a part in the end of last season but that proved impossible.

And the ex-Malaga ace recently admitted that he has considered calling time on his career during this difficult period.

Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has been out of action since last October

Cazorla said in May: "You feel like throwing in the towel but my desire to play football is above everything.

"I haven't been given a timeframe. It's very difficult to put a date, but I don't think it will be before five months.

"It's been since October that I last played. I've undergone eight surgeries, the last one [on Monday]. I hope that things go better.

"I've had complications since November. I got a bacterial infection in surgery, my bone got infected, the wound would not close and I had a graft done."
