United are keen on sealing a deal for Morata before July 9 when Jose Mourinho takes his side to the USA on a pre-season tour.

But negotiations with Real have slowed for the striker.

Spanish publication AS claim the delay is down to doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

Ronaldo threw his toys out of the pram earlier this month after being accused of tax evasion by Spanish authorities.

The Portuguese demanded a Bernabeu exit, throwing European champions Real’s transfer plans into chaos.

His future has been in limbo since, with the star attacker in action for his country at the Confederations Cup in Russia.

But AS say he’s now back in Spain, after being released by Portugal for their third/four place play-off match with Mexico.

And it’s claimed Ronaldo will hold talks with Real president Florentino Perez about his future today.

Perez is confident Ronaldo will stay.

But Madrid won’t approve the departures of Morata or James Rodriguez until they have an answer from the reigning World Player of the Year.

If Ronaldo does leave, it’s claimed Rodriguez and Morata may not be sold.

They add Kylian Mbappe will be drafted in from Monaco as his replacement.
