Bayern Munich will struggle to sign Alexis Sanchez

Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis has promised fans it will be quality not quantity this summer.

He also revealed that Arsenal were in talks over a number of transfers, with discussions ongoing.

Gazidis told supporters at an Arsenal Q&A: “We signed one of the players in the Bundesliga team of the season [Sead Kolasinac].

“We’re looking for top quality additions.”

Arsenal are believed to have launched unsuccessful bids for Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette and Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

Bayern Munich legend Oliver Kahn thinks the German giants face an uphill struggle to sign Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile ace could be up for grabs this summer as his contract approaches its final 12 months.

Manchester City and Bayern have been linked with the sensational forward.

But the Bundesliga side might struggle to get the deal done.

Liverpool have made an approach for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Kahn explained: “Of course Alexis Sanchez is a target, but in today’s professional football it is not that easy to get the big transfers. Even for Bayern.

“It is not easy to get a new Franck Ribery or a new Arjen Robben, because other clubs don’t necessarily have to sell their players because they have enormous amounts of money.

“They can make their players stay at the club and that’s what’s making it more difficult for Bayern to buy top stars.”

Liverpool have made an approach for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.

That's according to Liverpool Echoreporter James Pearce.

He says the approach has been rejected but Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract situation could change all that.

Pearce explained: Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t viewed as being the back-up option to Keita.

"Liverpool have interest in both and getting [Naby] Keita wouldn’t necessarily mean they don’t pursue Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"The situation with Oxlade-Chamberlain is that Liverpool made an enquiry to Arsenal a while back and were told he wasn’t available.

"Clearly, a lot hinges on what happens over his contract.

"If the stand-off over a new deal continues then Arsenal will reluctantly sell.

"If they are listening to offers then I’d expect Liverpool to make one.

"What makes me doubt whether Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield will happen is guarantees over game time.

"I think he’d be an excellent squad player for Liverpool but I wouldn’t say he’d walk into the side."
