Michael Keane has been linked with Everton and Man Utd

That's according to The Manchester Evening News who say it was United that ended their interest.

The Burnley defender was tipped as a potential arrival at Old Trafford this summer.

But a move to Everton now looks more likely for the 24-year-old.

The Times reported earlier this month that United held formal transfer talks with the England international.

It was claimed Keane curbed his enthusiasm about the move amid concerns he wouldn't get much game time.

But The Manchester Evening News say United put the breaks on a deal, not Keane.

They reckon Victor Lindelof's £31m arrival from Benfica effectively ended United's interest in the Burnley man.

Keane was spotted in an Old Trafford directors’ box against Chelsea in April.

He also had a trip away with old pal Jese Lingard to Dubai.

Keane has impressed for Burnley having left United just two years ago.

Since permanently moving to Turf Moor he's made 90 appearances and scored seven goals.

Everton have been linked with a £25m swoop for the defender.

The Toffees need a long-term replacement for 34-year-old Phil Jagielka and Keane is viewed as the ideal replacement.

Bookies Ladbrokes have stopped taking bets on the deal going through.
