Alvaro Morata is very close to joining Manchester United

The Real Madrid striker struggled to get game time under Zinedine Zidane last season and has been backed to quit the Bernabeu to get first-team football.

Starsport understands United are keen on the 24-year-old, with Jose Mourinho a huge admirer of the Spain international.

Reports suggested Chelsea were also in the hunt for Morata but the Blues have no interest in the Real star, with Antonio Conte eyeing Romelu Lukaku instead.

And according to Spanish newspaper AS, Morata will be a United player soon.

They say talks between the Red Devils and Real are now back underway after being put on hold for the striker’s recent wedding.

AS add that a fee is yet to be agreed with Real holding out for between £70m-£79m.

The Spanish giants are yet to give the deal the green light due to the transfer fee issues.

Morata netted 20 goals in all competitions under Zidane last campaign despite making limited appearances.

The hitman picked up a La Liga and Champions League medal last season as Real completed the double.
