Jose Mourinho is keen to splash the cash this summer to mount a title charge next season and cope with Champions League football.

United have been linked with a move for Belotti, while the Red Devils are also keen on Everton's Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid ace Alvaro Morata.

Italy international Belotti has been on fire in Serie A this season.

The 23-year-old has netted 28 goals in all competitions for Torino.

And according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, United have upped their interest in Belotti.

They say Mourinho has sent his agent Mendes to Milan to open talks with Torino president Urbano Cairo about their star man.

Tuttosport claim the Special One wants to make a 'decisive assault' to land Belotti.

The striker has an £87m release clause which only applies to foreign clubs, forcing United to pay a mammoth fee to land the hitman.

Torino chief Cairo has been vocal about Belotti's future, claiming he will not sell the Serie A star unless his buy-out clause is met.

"I’m not thinking about selling Belotti," said Cairo.

"Belotti is my player, we only renewed his contract recently. Our objective is to keep him.

"After that, there is a release clause that would make me obliged to sell him, providing someone came in with €100m (£87m) from abroad.

"Let’s see. I haven’t talked to him yet because he is currently with the national team.

"We will see how things go. Our intention would be to keep him."
