Michael Carrick celebrated 10 fantastic years at Manchester United with a testimonial match at Old Trafford yesterday.
The Red Devils hero has enjoyed a trophy-laden decade at the Premier League side - and scored a scorcher during the special match in front of a bumper crowd.
After the game, Arsene Wenger expressed regrets about never signing the ex-West Ham man.
The Frenchman said: "I would say personally I’m an admirer of his career, of his quality.
"One of my regrets is never having had him as a player because I think he was one of the greatest players in English football."
Wenger's words will come as no surprise to Arsenal fans, who have seen the Emirates boss miss out on hundreds of targets over the years.
Whether he actually attempted to sign Carrick at some point over the years remains unknown.
