FIGHTING FIT: Gnabry and Walcott are back in full training after their injury woes [GETTY]

Boss Arsene Wenger has had a dismal week of news, with star midfielder Mesut Ozil set to miss three months of action and key defender Laurent Koscielny struggling with an Achilles problem.

However, the return of pacy duo Walcott and Gnabry after lengthy layoffs will come as a relief to the Gunners chief.

England ace Walcott has been out since rupturing cruciate knee ligaments in the FA Cup win over Tottenham in January, while Gnabry has been out since April with a similar problem.

“Theo is not too far away now,” Wenger said. “Serge has been out for a long, long time and Theo has also been out for nine months, so it’s good to see them back.

"They’ve worked very hard and they’re very dedicated. They are back in the group on a daily basis and that’s very good news."

Walcott is likely to be named as a substitute for Arsenal's first game back after the international break, when they host Hull City at Emirates Stadium.

He will be targeting a swift return to the starting XI, and is sure to have half an eye on next month's England friendly with Scotland at Celtic Park.

Walcott's return to action comes as Arsenal bid to get their season back on track following their slow start to the campaign.

Sunday's 2-0 loss to Chelsea leaves Wenger's side nine points adrift of their London rivals in the Premier League after just seven matches.

They also lost 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League game to hand the advantage in Group D to the German outfit.
