GARY NEVILLE has jokingly claimed he played a part in Radamel Falcao's move to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford legend posted a picture of the pair on Twitter this afternoon.

And Neville wrote: "Ah I knew that late night bottle of red might pay off!! Haha."

The snap was taken a while ago and sees Falcao pointing at a smiling Neville.

Falcao is poised to join on a season-long loan.

United will pay Monaco a £6m loan fee with Falcao’s wages expected to cost the Premier League side £10m for the season.

There will be an option in the deal for United to buy the striker next summer.
