Inter Milan have requested Anthony Martial on loan in an attempt to reach an agreement with Manchester United for Ivan Perisic.
Jose Mourinho is keen on Perisic and the Croatia winger wants the move to Old Trafford but United have been unwilling to match the £45million valuation.
Talks have stalled but the deal is not yet dead and, in an attempt to find a solution, Inter have asked to take Martial on loan for a year to offset part of the difference.

Martial has not fulfilled his potential in Manchester since a big-money move from Monaco two years ago.
Wolfsburg have also made an enquiry about the France international striker, who scored four goals in 25 Premier League appearances.
Perisic is on tour with Inter Milan in Singapore.
Inter boss Luciano Spalletti said of United's move for his player: 'There is no fixed date to when he will stay or go but we all know what happened. There were conversations we had. Nothing happened since then.
'My intention is for Perisic to stay at the club and I will try in every possible way for him to stay and be part of the team.'
Perisic, who is highly rated by Jose Mourinho, could trade places with Martial this summer
Frenchman Martial has featured in all five of United's pre-season games so far this summer
But he started fewer than half of United's Premier League matches last term, scoring four goals
After beating Bayern Munich on Thursday, the Italians will face Chelsea on Saturday.
Perisic played 84 minutes of Inter's 2-0 win over Bayern, claiming an assist as he set up Eder with a terrific delivery.
Last season the former Wolfsburg winger scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 36 Serie A games for Inter.
That impressive form was only enough to help Inter to a disappointing seventh place, though, meaning no European football.
