Alexis Sanchez will laugh off the abuse he expects to receive from rival supporters, according to Jose Mourinho.
The Chilean is set for his Manchester United Premier League debut at Tottenham on Wednesday after joining from Arsenal.
Mourinho admitted the size of his pay packet — about £450,000 a week before bonuses — is likely to provoke abuse, which seemed to be the case during the FA Cup tie at Yeovil on Friday.
Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez will laugh off the boss according to boss Jose Mourinho
'Being at least one of the top salaries in Premier League football, to change a big club for another big club, attracts a little bit of it, but I don't think he cares,' said Mourinho.
'It doesn't matter about the previous rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal, I think he is probably going to get that kind of reception everywhere.'
Sanchez's arrival sparked debate about Marcus Rashford's role at Old Trafford, even though the 20-year-old is the only United star to have played in every game this season.
Mourinho acknowledged that Rashford's form has improved significantly this season and believes he will benefit from playing with Sanchez.
Mourinho admitted Sanchez's pay packet is likely to provoke abuse like it seemed to at Yeovil
'The kid is having a hell of an experience at every level so an amazing future waits for him,' said the manager. 'And being surrounded by these players can only help him.'
Mourinho also suggested that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, a target for Real Madrid, is ready for a career at Europe's elite clubs.
'I think he is already at a big club as a start,' Mourinho said.
'I see him at Spurs for many years. I also see him living and having a very good career at other clubs.'
But the United manager said he does not think the Chile international will be bothered by it
