Jordon Seward: Roma defender Emerson Palmieri has completed his £17.5million move to Chelsea.

Palmieri posed for pictures with the shirt on Tuesday evening after completing his medical and penning a four-and-a-half year contract.

The Brazilian, who has been assigned the No 33 shirt at Chelsea, left his home in Rome to fly to London earlier in the day.

Simon Jones: Manchester United defender Daley Blind is a deadline day target for Roma.

The 27-year-old Holland international is a popular figure at Old Trafford but is currently injured after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

Jose Mourinho, the United manager, has played Blind in every competitive domestic and European cup match this season up until last Friday’s FA Cup win over Yeovil Town.

Blind is in the final year of his contract and has been open to a move as he considers his future. Roma also tried to sign him last year.

Manchester City have completed the signing of England Under-21s midfielder Jack Harrison from their sister club New York City - and immediately loaned him to Middlesbrough.

Harrison was born in Stoke but moved to the US at the age of 14 and attracted rave reviews for his performances for New York during the 2017 MLS campaign.

And his growing stature was quickly recognised on this side of the Atlantic by England Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd, who named him in his squad for the Euro 2019 qualifiers against Scotland and Andorra in October.

Laurie Whitwell: Leeds in advanced talks with West Brom over transfer of Tyler Roberts.

Roberts has attracted interest after a fine loan spell with League One Walsall, where he has scored five goals in 17 games and West Brom are prepared to sell due to the 19-year-old having six months left on his contract.

It is understood a £2.5m deal could be completed before the winter window deadline but West Brom would demand performance-based add-ons taking the move up to around £4m, as well as a percentage of any future sale.

Simon Jones: Napoli have made a request to take Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen on loan for the rest of the season.

Klaassen was one of Ronald Koeman's marquee signings last summer.

He has played 15 times for the Toffees this season and is yet to score from attacking midfield.

Simon Jones: Chelsea have reached an agreement with Arsenal over an £18million move for striker Olivier Giroud.

The two Premier League clubs were locked in talks all day on Tuesday, but a breakthrough has finally been made, with the France international now set to swap The Emirates for Stamford Bridge.

Talks actually broke down around lunchtime with the Blues walking away from negotiations, Arsenal refusing to accept a deal worth an initial £15m with £5m-worth of add-ons.

Matt Barlow is in place at the London Stadium and has had a good look at David Gold's programme notes - and they are quite revealing.

Gold writes: 'We hope that by the time the transfer window closes Joao Mario won't be the only new face in the squad. Davis Sullivan, Tony Henry and the manager are doing everything they can to increase the strength of the team but I have to stress this is an extremely difficult window to do business in.

'We only want to bring in quality players who are going to make a positive difference and improve the team. And the fact is clubs do not want to sell quality players at this time of year. What we will not do is simply bring in bodies just to boost numbers. The most important thing is to stay positive.'

Simon Jones: Newcastle United are pressing ahead over a loan deal for Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The 29-year-old Slovakia international is eager to join up with Rafa benitez and talks are ongoing.

Newcastle are offloading Henri Saivet with Sivasspor pushing to sign the midfielder on loan while 22-year-old Rolando Aarons is wanted by Verona, following enquiries from Hull City.

Anderlecht remain keen to re-sign Newcastle forward Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Simon Jones: Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron has emerged as a potential target for Crystal Palace, Burnley and Newcastle United.

The 6ft 3ins USA international is prepared to leave Stoke to gain more game time after a season hindered by niggly injuries.

He has been back in the squad under manager Paul Lambert but his ability to play in defence and holding midfield is appealing to Premier League rivals as they look for last minute additions. Cameron has 55 caps.

Simon Jones: Watford are closing on agreement with Sunderland over the transfer of Didier N'Dong.

The 23-year-old cost Sunderland £13.5million in August 2016 when he joined from Lorient.

Sunderland were reluctant to let him go on loan but Watford's offer is to sign him on a permanent deal for £7million in the summer.

Simon Jones: Badou Ndiaye has arrived at Stoke City's Clayton Woods training ground ahead of his £15million transfer from Galatasaray.

Personal terms have been agreed, but the 27-year-old Senegal international still needs a work permit and visa.

Ndiaye, who was a £6m target from Sunderland last year, is likely to be in the Senegal squad for this summer's World Cup in Russia but has played only eight times for his country and has not played in 60 per cent of their internationals over the past two years - the required number for a work permit.

Barcelona have got from 5/2 to 7/1 to sign the Chelsea defender before the window closes.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: 'The biggest move in our transfer betting this morning has been for Barcelona to sign David Luiz.

'Available at 7/1 over the weekend, the Brazilian has been well-backed and is now just 5/2 to sign for the Catalan giants before the end of the January transfer window.'

Simon Jones: Riyad Mahrez is ready to hand in a transfer request in a bid to force a move to Manchester City.

The Premier League leaders have made a £50million offer for the Leicester City winger and Mahrez is desperate to go.

Leicester want him to stay and do not need to sell but Mahrez does not want to miss his chance to join up with Pep Guardiola.

The Spanish coach wants cover for the injured Leroy Sane who is out for up to seven weeks with ankle ligament damage and has targeted the fleet-footed Algerian international, who has also been a target for Chelsea and Arsenal.

Pietro Pellegri's transfer from Genoa to Monaco is notable for many reasons, but mostly for his age and the size of the fee based on that.

Pellegri, 16, has made 10 first team appearances as scored three goals - including one to help spoil Francesco Totti's final Roma match - which was enough for the Ligue 1 champions to spend £18m to bring him to the Stade Louis II.

The price is a world record for a 16-year-old - and is the seventh record fee paid for a player based on age this season.

Manchester City have made a shock £50million bid for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez as they look to bring him in on a deadline day deal.

Manager Pep Guardiola wants cover for the injured Leroy Sane who is out for up to seven weeks with ankle ligament damage and has targeted the fleet-footed Algerian, who has also been wanted by Chelsea and Arsenal.

Mahrez is aware of City interest and wants to go. He is eligible to play in the Champions League, though Leicester do not need to sell. Even £50m may not be enough to persuade them at this stage of the window.

SIMON JONES: Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Costel Pantilimon from Deportivo La Coruna.

The 30-year-old has been on loan at Deportivo from Watford and has made six appearances this season. Romania international Pantilimon who is 6ft 8ins tall has had previous spells with Sunderland and Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Forest goalkeeping coach Jim Walker has left the club. Walker, formerly with Rangers, was appointed by previous boss Mark Warburton. Forest are also signing defender Tobias Figuieredo from Sporting Lisbon on loan.

SIMON JONES: Emerson Palmieri has left his home in Rome and headed for Ciampino airport where he will fly to London ahead of his medical with Chelsea today.

The 23-year-old left-back is due to join for an initial £17.5million

But fear not, Crystal Palace fans.

The midfielder has returned to Chelsea for treatment on his serious ankle injury with the England midfielder's 2018 World Cup participation up in the air.

Loftus-Cheek, who turned 22 last week, has not appeared since a 3-2 defeat by Arsenal on December 28.

Parent club Chelsea have decided to take him back to be monitored at Cobham's training ground, though they have not sent him for surgery yet.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says Yannick Carrasco and Kevin Gameiro are unlikely to leave the club this month.

Carrasco has been linked with Arsenal in today's Spanish newspapers while Gameiro is unhappy with his current first-team involvement.

Cerezo told Marca: 'At the moment, no. Maybe it’s possible that a player leaves, but at the moment we don’t have anything planned.

'[Yannick] Carrasco is a magnificent player that suits us very well, [Kevin] Gameiro is an extraordinary forward. And I think that they are very well here.'

LAURIE WHITWELL: Middlesbrough and Sunderland are the latest teams to register an interest.

King has fallen down Claude Puel’s pecking order in recent weeks and Leicester are willing to allow a temporary transfer.

Sheffield United and Bristol City have previously asked about the 29-year-old and now Tony Pulis and Chris Coleman are trying for late moves.

ANTHONY HAY: Manchester City have broken their club transfer record by splashing out £57million on Athletic Bilbao centre back Aymeric Laporte. 

Laporte, 23, has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year deal to finalise his move to England. 

The Premier League leaders triggered his release clause last week which led to Athletic Bilbao pulling Laporte out of their squad to face Eibar on Friday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's £55million move to Arsenal edged even closer on Tuesday after the Borussia Dortmund striker was spotted at Dortmund Airport.  

The Gabon international, who has been the subject of intense interest this month from the Gunners, was spotted gathering his belongings from a gold Range Rover before heading towards a back entrance. 

The 28-year-old forward will be heading to London later on Tuesday to finalise his move, which will see him become Arsenal's club-record signing.

JOE STRANGE: Olivier Giroud agreed a contract with Chelsea on Monday before the Premier League champions withdrew their offer, according to a new report.

French newspaper L'Equipe claim that Arsenal failed to meet a deadline set by the Blues as they were busy completing a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But with Antonio Conte desperate to land a new striker before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, the London rivals remain in talks over the Frenchman.

SIMON JONES: Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is discussing his proposed loan move to Swansea City. the 23-year-old former Benfica star is wanted by Carlos Carvahal after a move for Atletico Madrid's Nicolas Gaitan fell through.

Swansea remain in discussions with West Ham over an £18m deal for Andre Ayew though West Ham have asked for Ki Sung Yeung, as first reported in Sportsmail. Swansea want to do a straight deal for Ayew at £17m plus £1m in add-ons.

Meanwhile, West Ham have dropped interest in Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. David Moyes had made up is mind before Everton declared the Frenchman was not for sale today. Moyes retains an interest in bringing in Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle United.

Liverpool's England U20 international midfielder Ovie Ejaria is joining Sunderland on loan.

SIMON JONES: Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic is close to agreeing terms on a season loan to Middlesbrough.

The 25-year-old Bosnia international has struggled to impress under Sam Allardyce this season.

Meanwhile, Tony Pulis is allowing Adlene Guedioura to join Nottingham Forest. Aitor Karanka is also considering a deal for free agent Iranian midfielder Ashkan Dejagah.

SIMON JONES: Borussia Dortmund's Andre Schurrle could yet make a deadline day return to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old former Chelsea player has been offered to clubs such as West Bromwich Albion and West Ham as he looks for more game time ahead of the World Cup.

Albion remain in the market for an attacking midfielder after signing Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool.

SIMON JONES: Chelsea remain in talks with Arsenal over the possible sale of Olivier Giroud.

Chelsea's opening offer of £15m plus £5m in bonuses was rejected at the weekend and the two clubs are continuing to try and find a solution closer to Arsenal's £30million valuation. 

Negotiations have continued over an offer of £20m plus add-ons. Giroud is keen on a move to Chelsea though he also has interest from Monaco, Sevilla and Roma.

DOMINIC KING: Morgan Schneiderlin's proposed move to West Ham is now looking unlikely.

As reported by Sportsmail, the London club were interested in taking the Everton midfielder on loan before Wednesday's deadline.

David Moyes wanted to add an experienced Premier League central midfielder to his ranks this month but has been frustrated in attempts to land Joe Allen and Jonjo Shelvey. 

ANTHONY HAY: La Liga president Javier Tebas is keen for Neymar to seal a return to Spain in order to make the league stronger.

Neymar, who left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for a world record fee of £198million, has been linked with a move to his former side's arch rivals – Real Madrid.

And Tebas has revealed he would welcome Neymar, who played for Barcelona for four years, back to Spain with open arms due to the Brazilian's standing in the game.

SAMI MOKBEL: Out-of-favour Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is moving to Swansea.

The Serbia international has failed to cement a regular place since moving to Merseyside in 2014.

He has spent much of the last three seasons on loan at the likes of Hull and Sporting Lisbon and will now join struggling Swansea on a permanent deal.

Aymeric Laporte's club-record move to Manchester City looks set to be completed on Tuesday as he was spotted leaving his hotel in the city centre. 

Laporte was accompanied by his partner Sara Botello as he left the Radisson Blu in Manchester, wearing a smart roll neck jumper, jacket and light coloured trousers.

The French central defender was travelling to the Etihad Stadium, where he is expected to complete his £57million move to City.

Kieran Gill: West Ham are ready to strike a deal with Swansea to send Andre Ayew back to the Wales for a club record fee. 

The Swans have submitted a second bid worth £18million for their former player while the Hammers have been holding out for closer to the £20.5m they paid in 2016.

David Moyes has told the board to consider the injury situation before they come to any agreement, though this is now a transfer that is likelier to go through than not.

Chelsea would turn down a world record £200million bid from Manchester City for Eden Hazard if the Premier League leaders did try to test their resolve.

The reigning Premier League champions will not cash in on their Belgium playmaker and remain convinced Hazard will sign a new deal in the near future, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Manchester City are said to be weighing up a summer move for Hazard after losing out to rivals Manchester United in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez.

SAMI MOKBEL: Manchester City will spark a transfer scramble for their talented defender Tosin Adarabioyo before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

With a deal for Aymeric Laporte close to completion, manager Pep Guardiola will make academy graduate Adarabioyo available for loan.

Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs to have shown an interest in the 20-year-old — but a host of Premier League and Championship sides will join the race to land the England Under 19 international.

Javier Pastore wants to move to Inter Milan. Inter Milan want to sign Javier Pastore on loan. Paris Saint-Germain need money.

The Argentina international opted to move to Italy despite interest from the likes of Liverpool. But the move has hit a stumbling block, according to L'Equipe.

They report that Inter cannot afford to buy Pastore on a permanent deal and would rather a loan ahead of a potential £25million deal in July. But PSG need the money as they try to avoid falling foul of FFP.

Who will budge first?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is looking forward to playing attacking football at Arsenal in a thinly-veiled jibe at former club Manchester United.

The Armenian midfielder moved to the Emirates earlier this month in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez after becoming surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Mkhitaryan started only one Premier League game in his final two months at United and is looking forward to a new lease of life at the Gunners.

JOHN MCGARRY: Brendan Rodgers has hailed the loan signing of Charly Musonda as a huge coup for Celtic – as he lined up Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson as his fourth capture of the window.

On the bench as his Chelsea team-mates defeated Newcastle on Sunday, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder flew to Glasgow on Monday to finalise an 18-month loan deal with the Scottish champions.

SIMON JONES: Burnley have had an £11.5million bid rejected by Nottingham Forest for highly-rated defender Joe Worrall.

Sean Dyche had targeted the 21-year-old centre-back with an offer of £6m plus add-ons but Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka is determined to build a side geared for promotion.

MATT MALTBY: Liverpool and Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow after Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev ruled out selling Thomas Lemar this month.

The Premier League pair have been monitoring the £90million-rated forward since last summer, while Atletico Madrid are also keen. 

Sportsmail reported this month that both top-flight clubs were more likely to make a bid in the summer, and Vasilyev seems intent that he will be at the club until then.

SIMON JONES AND SAMI MOKBEL: Arsenal’s £55million signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will only be sanctioned once London rivals Chelsea secure Olivier Giroud and loan out Michy Batshuayi.

In a complicated chain of sale, Dortmund insist they will only sign off the 28-year-old Aubameyang’s release once they have a replacement. They have targeted Batshuayi on loan and Chelsea will agree to that if they can sign Giroud.

On Monday, it looked as if Chelsea were using that to try to drive down the price for the Frenchman. Chelsea have offered £15m plus add-ons but are still short of Arsenal’s £30m valuation as the Gunners demand a premium price for selling to their London rivals.
