Borussia Dortmund continue talks with Arsenal over Olivier Giroud... but want to £54m Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal separate

Borussia Dortmund are maintaining dialogue with Arsenal over the possibility of buying Olivier Giroud.

An Arsenal delegation remains in Dortmund trying to conclude the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the two clubs are keen to keep the deals separate at this stage.

Giroud is ready to leave Arsenal to gain more regular football ahead of France's World Cup campaign and was a target for Dortmund, as well as Everton, last summer.

The 31-year-old has had to settle for a reduced role following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette last summer and has started just one Premier League game this season.

Considering he is vying against Lacazette for a place in the France team, Giroud will have little chance of starting for Didier Deschamps's side in Russia if the situation does not change.

Giroud joined Arsenal from Montpellier for £12million after leading them to the Ligue 1 title in 2012. He has 105 goals for the club, becoming the 19th player to hit the three-figure mark for the Gunners.

Talks between the both Arsenal and Dortmund were continuing on Tuesday and chief executive Ivan Gazidis and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat were once again spotted in the local area.

They have already seen an opening bid of £44m for Aubameyang knocked back, but are expected to agree a fee in the region of £53m in the coming days.
