Callum Wilson paid tribute to Bournemouth's fans for inspiring Eddie Howe's team to their first-ever victory over Arsenal.

The Cherries' problems appeared to be continuing when Hector Bellerin fired Arsenal, without the influential Alexis Sanchez, into a 52nd-minute lead.

But goals in the space of four minutes from Wilson and Jordon Ibe helped Bournemouth secure a 2-1 win, moving them four points above the Premier League relegation zone.

'It is fantastic,' Wilson told Sky Sports. 'We need to pick up our home form and thankfully we have done that.

'The fans were a bit flat so we needed to get them back involved. A goal against a big team is always going to lift them and that is what it did.

'We got them on their feet and they got behind us for the second goal.'

This was the first time Bournemouth had collected any points against a top-six team this season.

'It is a massive lift,' Wilson added. 'We need points against whoever we play and we know those three points take us a bit further away from the bottom three.

'We just need to keep going game by game and keep picking up points.'

Former Liverpool winger Ibe scored his first league goal for Bournemouth, netting the winner in the 74th minute.

'It was special to me,' he said. 'I have worked on this. It is a credit to the boys and Cal (Wilson) for setting me up. I am pleased for us to get the win today.'
