The managerial enemies have been trading steadily more severe insults in recent weeks, but could now be set to go head to head to become the next manager of French giants Paris Saint Germain.

The super rich, who boast the likes of NeymarKylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani in their ranks, are reported to be considering sacking boss Unai Emery in the summer.

Should they prove unsuccessful in this venture this season Emery's position at the helm will come under scrutiny, with Mourinho and Conte top of the bill, as report the Mirror.

PSG have to overcome current holders Real Madrid in the round of 16, with a upwards challenge already set against them.

Mourinho’s Manchester United current contract and Conte’s Chelsea agreement both expire in 2019 and the duo have insisted they intend to see out those deals, though times have been strained for both managers this season.

Pressure has been piling on Mourinho since United's wayward form following derby defeat to rivals City, after which an infamous tunnel bust up broke out.

Likewise, at Stamford Bridge, Conte has been at loggerheads with the club hierarchy since summer, dissatisfied at not being able to bring in his primary targets following last season's emphatic title win.

Mourinho has an option written into his contract enabling him to extend through to 2020.

While the Portuguese has spoken warmly of United, and even insisted he could sign a new deal beyond his existing tenure, his time in the north west has not always appeared to be plain sailing.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid chief is still living out of the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, despite taking over the Red Devils in the summer of 2016.

Conte however is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the current campaign, as reported this week by Sportsmail, with the Blues already seeking to identify a replacement.

It has been reported that there is a confidence in the Conte camp that he would be first in line to take over the vacant PSG position, should Emery depart.
