Arsenal held out to a goalless draw in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The regular use of VAR was perhaps the most exciting talking point from the match which leaves their semi-final tie in the balance.

Chelsea's Eden Hazard was the stand-out player as the Blues were held by Arsenal at home

CHELSEA (3-5-1-1)

Thibaut Courtois - 6 

Barely troubled in the first half and that theme continued. A very quiet night for the goalkeeper. 

Cesar Azpilicueta - 6 

Late into the tackle a couple of times but made up for it with passes into the Arsenal penalty area. 

Victor Moses - 6.5 

Loves playing right wing back. Moves in and out. Constant problem for Maitland-Niles.

Victor Moses caused Arsenal problems down the right flank all night at Stamford Bridge

Andreas Christensen - 6

Continues to impress. Good passer of the ball, which is a key part of Conte's overall approach. 

Antonio Rudiger - 6.5 

The left of a three-man defence. Set Alonso free while keeping things organised at the back. 

Cesc Fabregas - 7 

Can always rely on him to link midfield and attack. He did that with precision every time.

Cesc Fabregas was in good form as he faced his old side and made some precise passes 

Danny Drinkwater - 6 

The weak link in midfield. Not up to speed with his team-mates and poor shooting from range.

N'Golo Kante - 7 

Went missing at times but was always available when Chelsea were looking for an out ball. 

Marcos Alonso - 6.5 

Difficult to handle as he raced forward. Time after time he supplied a dangerous pass.

Eden Hazard - 7.5 

Another breathless display. Drew a number of fouls from Arsenal players. 

Alvaro Morata - 6.5

Isolated in the first half but his movement allowed Hazard to get into threatening areas.

His side created enough chances to have won this comfortably. The second leg will be a nervy affair away at home at the Emirates.  

ARSENAL (3-4-2-1)

David Ospina - 6 

Routine save to deny Fabregas. Let off a number of times as Chelsea fluffed chances. 

Calum Chambers - 6 

Fell nastily when trying to close down Willian. Look uncomfortable from there on in. 

Shkodran Mustafi - 6.5 

Struggled to read Chelsea's runs. Didn't like marking Morata. Did make an excellent block. 

Shkodran Mustafi made a vital block but looked to struggle against the pace of Chelsea  

Rob Holding - 6 

Nervous defending against Hazard and Moses. Pace of pair made his night a tough one.

Hector Bellerin - 6 

Nullified by Alonso. Usually a threat on the break, but couldn't get a run at the Blues defence.

Granit Xhaka - 5.5 

Couldn't cope with Hazard. Trusted to take corners but struggled to deliver a good ball.

Jack Wilshere - 7 

Trusted with the captain's armband. Covered plenty of pitch before coming off.

A Maitland-Niles - 5.5 

Inexperienced and out of position, the youngster was exposed a few times down the left.

Alex Iwobi - 5.5

Party's over. Started again despite being fined. His final pass lacked quality.

Danny Welbeck - 7

Impressive. Tireless in his approach. Prepared to make the runs his peers didn't want to make.

Alexandre Lacazette - 5.5 

Generous chance to score in the first half but he wasted it. Snatched at his shots too much.

Alex Iwobi did little to make fans forget his partying habits with a below par performance

His side are still in with a shout of Wembley. Maybe he should sit in the press box more often. His team managed just about to keep Chelsea out.

Right not to award Maitland-Niles a penalty. Assured performance.
