Arsenal and Tottenham have been dealt a transfer blow as Borussia Monchengladbach director of sport Max Eberl insisted highly-rated defender Jannik Vestergaard will not be sold in January.
The Danish international has impressed this season and is on the radar of both London clubs, with Inter Milan also thought to be tracking the centre-back.
The 25-year-old has played in every game over the first half of the season for his club but it seems he will remain in the Bundesliga at least until the summer.
Borussia Monchengladbach defender Jannik Vestergaard is likely to be staying put
Eberl said: 'We don't intend to let anyone go during the winter,' as he looks to guide his side to a strong second half of the domestic campaign.
Arsenal remain keen on bolstering their options in defence while Tottenham are considering adding depth due to the injury sustained by Toby Alderweireld.
But with Eberl's insistence that the club will not be sanctioning any deals, both clubs may have to move on to other targets.

The towering central defender has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga
Vestergaard was one of only six players not in the Bayern Munich team named in Opta’s statically best XI of 2017.
He's made 22 appearances for Monchengladbach this season, scored three goals and helped the team to joint-fourth place at the winter break.
