When quizzed about what progress had been made on a move for Dembele, Brighton manager Chris Hughton said: 'I'm very aware of the speculation. Certainly at this moment that's all that it is.'
Former Celtic player and Sportsmail columnist Kris Commons suggested the speculation may be affecting Dembele after his antics on the weekend.
The 21-year-old was substituted off in the Old Firm derby against Rangers and instead of watching it from the bench decided to head straight down the tunnel to get an early shower.
Hughton is keen to bolster his attack with Dembele but he may not guarantee him a starting spot at the AMEX Stadium with Glenn Murray back to scoring ways after netting in their draw against Bournemouth.
Christ Hughton remained coy on the matter and insisted it is just speculation at this moment
