Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed he may quit if the club are relegated.

Jenkins has been in the post 15 years and overseen their rise from the foot of League Two, but has been targeted with significant abuse from supporters since the sale of the club to US pair Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien in 2016.

With Swansea in major danger of relegation, Jenkins said: ‘I have to take responsibility. If the club are relegated, I would certainly consider (quitting). I am not that naive or arrogant or whatever the words are that I am not responsible.

‘If we continue on this path of hardly winning football games, yes, I have no doubt it is (untenable).’

Jenkins also admitted it was a mistake not to appoint Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2016, when they instead handed a new contract to Francesco Guidolin.

Rodgers was keen, but the club were unwilling to meet his wage requirements.

He said: ‘My biggest regret is not getting Brendan back here at any cost. I’m not going to hide from that. That would have been the biggest thing that we, or I, should have done differently.’
