Harry Kane’s hopes of rewriting history further by scoring a hat-trick of hat-tricks when Tottenham travel to Swansea on Tuesday could be derailed by illness.

The Spurs striker has a cold and missed training on Friday, with manager Mauricio Pochettino telling the hotshot to stay at home.

Kane, who scored back-to-back trebles against Burnley and Southampton over the festive period to take his 2017 tally to 56 goals for Spurs and England, will be assessed on a day-to-day basis.

Spurs aren’t in action this weekend but must then play three times in six days from Tuesday as they visit rock-bottom Swansea, host West Ham on Thursday night and then welcome AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

A sniffly Pochettino said: ‘He is ill, a cold like me. He is at home and not feeling good. But we will see tomorrow if he comes to training. We’ll see, I don’t know whether he will be available or not.’

Kane has even outscored the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo during what has been a spectacular 2017, reigniting suggestions that Real Madrid may come in for a mega-money bid.

But Pochettino insists no price will be big enough to tempt Tottenham to sell their prize asset.

He said: ‘We want him here so there is no current price. We can talk about many things but it is impossible to put a price on him.

‘But that is for Daniel Levy, not me. It is easy for me, but Daniel it would be different.

‘He has always been treated as a superstar [within Tottenham]. Nothing has changed. We trusted him from day one here because we felt the potential and he deserves credit for all he has achieved.’
