Manchester United 'will not renew bid to sign Antoine Griezmann' with Jose Mourinho unconvinced by £88m tag
- Manchester United are set to end their interest in the Atletico Madrid striker
- The decision clears the way for Barcelona to sign Antoine Griezmann next year
- Jose Mourinho is not convinced Griezmann can live up to his €100m asking price
Manchester United will not renew their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann as manager Jose Mourinho is not convinced he can live up to his price tag in the Premier League.
According to Marca, Mourinho has never been convinced by the France international and last summer's pursuit was borne more out of the board wanting a marquee arrival.
It appears the Portuguese has now satisfied the Old Trafford chiefs that Griezmann is no longer required, which should give Barcelona the freedom they need to sign him in January or next summer.

Had it not been for Atletico Madrid's transfer embargo, it is likely the 26-year-old would have ended up in a Manchester United shirt.
As it was, he decided not to abandon Diego Simeone until he had the chance to replace him and agreed to stay, at least until January.
That transfer ban will be lifted on new year's day and Diego Costa will officially become an Atletico Madrid player again. Griezmann will then be free to leave providing a club agrees to pay his €100million (£88m) release clause.

Barcelona have held a long-term interest in the former Real Sociedad star and can sign him safe in the knowledge that he has already proven himself in the Spanish top flight.
However, the current La Liga leaders also face a dilemma due to their continued eagerness to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho. They aggressively pursued the playmaker last summer and failed with three bids in excess of £100m.
Liverpool are still determined to keep hold of their prized asset and any deal is likely to be well into the nine-figure territory. Having already spent £138m on Ousmane Dembele, it will be a case of one or the other for Ernesto Valverde.
