Burnley manager Sean Dyche angry as FA hand out three-match ban to James Tarkowski for Glenn Murray elbow

  • Sean Dyche disagrees with FA's decision to ban James Tarkowski for three games
  • Burnley accepted a violent conduct charge after he elbowed Glenn Murray
  • Dyche says using the word 'violent' with regard to the incident is 'bizarre'

Angry Burnley boss Sean Dyche feels the three-match punishment for his defender James Tarkowski is over the top despite accepting a charge of violent conduct.

Tarkowski elbowed Brighton’s Glenn Murray in the Premier League clash at the Amex Stadium last week.

Dyche said Tarkowski hurt his hand in the same game — it later required an operation in which a plate and five pins were inserted — and that it may have been a mitigating factor.

‘He had damaged it before, and just before the incident Murray just happened to grab his hand — maybe it was by accident.

‘We put that forward but they still decided it was three games for violent conduct.

‘It’s a very low-contact situation. To use the word “violent” itself is bizarre in my opinion. We are very disappointed with that.’
