Morgan Schneiderlin felt the cold chill of the Premier League's busy Christmas period as he joined Everton team-mates Idrissa Gueye and Oumar Niasse in a cryotherapy chamber.

The midfielder, who featured in Everton's narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle last weekend, took to the sub-zero conditions of cryotherapy ahead of their clash with relegation-threatened Swansea on Monday night.

The Frenchman posted on his Instagram alongside his Toffees team-mates, with Gueye clearly feeling the effects of their time in the chamber more than his colleagues.

'Hard 3 minutes of cryo to be ready for tomorrow,' Schneiderlin wrote.

While Schneiderlin and Niasse, standing arms folded reminiscent of the sort of pose you would expect from boy band, put on a brave face, Gueye does not.

The forward appears to be struggling with aftermath of the freezing conditions as he shivers at the edge of his braver team-mates.

Bravery, though, is a trait Everton have seemingly recovered since the appointment of Sam Allardyce after their dismal start to the season.

Under Allardyce's watchful eye, the Toffees are unbeaten, have conceded just once – against Liverpool at Anfield over a week ago – and have climbed to mid-table.

And victory over Paul Clement's Swans would see them climb even further to within a point of the top eight.

Swansea are rock-bottom of the top flight, and the bookmakers have stacked the odds firmly in Everton's favour ahead of the Goodison Park clash, but despite this, Allardyce urged an air of caution.

'It is my big word to the players – that this will not be an easy task,' he said. 'It will be a difficult task, as always, and don't slip up against a side everybody expects you to beat.

'You will only get the opportunity to beat them if you play 100 per cent to your level, which is what we have had to do certainly in the last four games we have played.'
