90+2 mins: Lukaku nearly secures all three points for his side but he drags his right-footed effort wide of the left post. 

There is still time for West Brom here to secure a dramatic comeback against United. 

87 mins: How on earth has that not gone in??? West Brom go so so close to equalising. Brunt swings in another corner which De Gea misses. The ball rebounds off Matic and goes across the goalline but the Spanish goalkeeper manages to get his hands on the ball. 

85 mins: The Red Devils make their final substitution of the match. Youngster McTominay comes on in place of Lingard, whose goal could prove the difference today. 

85 mins: The desperate Baggies are really piling the pressure on now. Rodriguez goes ever so close to equalising for the hosts after dragging a header just wide of De Gea's goal. 

79 mins: Rashford makes way for Martial. Just over 10 minutes left here, will the visitors hold on to their slender lead?

77 mins: Well well well... game on! Former Manchester City player Barry taps home from close range following a goal mouth scramble. 

Brunt whips in a corner to the far post and United fail to deal with it. It rebounds off Rojo straight to Barry, who has the simple task of slotting it home from just a couple of yards out.

74 mins: Better from West Brom and Brunt makes an immediate impact. The 33-year-old gathers the ball in the middle of the park before releasing Rondon on goal down the left. However, the striker's left-footed effort is comfortably saved by De Gea. 

Just moments later, Brunt fires a shot with his weak foot well over the crossbar. 

71 mins: West Brom make their final change of the match as Krychowiak is replaced by Brunt.

The game has petered out in the last few minutes here at the Hawthorns.

CHRIS WHEELER: United should have this game in the bag now. A Mourinho team is never likely to give up a two-goal lead, and West Brom simply don’t appear capable of causing them any problems. It looks like being four games without a goal for them under Alan Pardew.

65 mins: Huge blow for United as the ever-reliable Valencia is forced off with what looks like a hamstring injury. He is replaced by Rojo, who is making his 100th appearance for the club. 

Meanwhile, West Brom striker Rodriguez comes on for Burke.

59 mins: The game is really opening up now. West Brom are posing more of an attacking threat now but that means they are also leaving themselves exposed at the back. Lingard breaks and plays a one-two with Lukaku before hitting his shot from the edge of the area straight into Foster's hands. 

57 mins: And United go up the other end and go close to wrapping up proceedings. Valencia plays a cross in from the right, Lingard flicks the ball on to Rashford but the Englishman's right-footed shot just evades the right-hand post. 

55 mins: West Brom go close to pulling a goal back. Burke plays a brilliant first-time ball into the penalty area from the right but Rondon is just inches away from connecting with the ball and United clear.

53 mins: The game is heating up now. Rashford goes down and stays down temporarily after colliding with Hegazi. The striker reacts in anger as he feels the Egyptian elbowed him in the face. The pair both end up receiving yellows after exchanging some heated words.

49 mins: The Baggies are enjoying the early spell of possession in the second half but can't break down the United defence. Looks like they will need something special to pull a goal back here...

LAURIE WHITWELL: United have not really moved out of second gear here but sloppy West Brom defending sees them into a lead that appears unassailable for a team as goal-shy as Alan Pardew’s.

The bounce expected with Pardew’s arrival has not materialised. United’s fans are enjoying the afternoon, giving their own rendition of ‘Park the bus’ when the second went in. 

39 mins: Mourinho's men are all over West Brom here. The hosts need half-time quickly to regroup. The travelling fans are in full voice, and can be heard singing 'Park the bus, park the bus Man United' following the taunts they received from City fans last weekend. 

35 mins: It's far too easy for the visitors here. Mata receives the ball on the edge of the penalty area following a pass from the left, the Spaniard lays it on to Lingard who fires home, via a deflection from Hegazi. Foster had no chance in the West Brom goal. 

CHRIS WHEELER: What is it with Romelu Lukaku? United’s £75million man scores an almost identical goal to his winner against Bournemouth in midweek and once again refuses to celebrate.

If Lukaku is looking to make a point about the criticism he received for contributing to both City’s goals in the Manchester derby, he’s made it. Time to move on.

28 mins: Lukaku scores a brilliant header, similar to the one against Bournemouth in midweek. From the left, Rashford plays an inviting inswinging cross to the Belgian, who heads past Foster into the top right corner. United have looked more dangerous going forward and have been rewarded...

There was no celebration yet again from Lukaku.

LAURIE WHITWELL: Big things were expected of Oliver Burke when West Brom paid £15million to RB Leipzig but injuries and an adjustment to Premier League football have curtailed his involvement to date.

A first Premier League start against Manchester United is a big statement of encouragement from Alan Pardew but the winger has yet to get into the game. It does seem there are opportunities for Burke to attack that right flank, though. 

20 mins: Rashford starting to get frustrated. The England international tries to take on Nyom down the left but the full back does brilliantly to hold off the forward and ends up winning a free-kick for his team.

14 mins: What a delightful ball by Young just now. He curls a brilliant delivery to the far post with Lukaku lurking to head home past Foster. But former Arsenal man Gibbs does fantastically to get to the ball before the striker and clear the danger. 

11 mins: The hosts slowly starting to get into the game and the home crowd are right up for it now! They win a corner on the left but Krychowiak puts in a dreadful ball which is cleared by the first man. 

9 mins: West Brom pose their first real threat of the match. Gibbs passes it down the left to Rondon on the halfway line. The Venezuelan cleverly then flicks the ball onto McClean who whips a cross into the United area but his pass evades a team-mate.

5 mins: Rashford causing a threat early on. From his own area, De Gea launches the ball to the unmarked forward down the left. He cuts back in but sees his shot blocked just inside the area. Good start by the visitors but sloppy there from Pardew's men. 

3 mins: The visitors are enjoying the early spell of possession. Rashford nearly gets behind the West Brom defence straight away following a Lukaku flick-on but the hosts clear the danger.

MAX WINTERS: West Brom manager Alan Pardew has claimed defender Jonny Evans could still be playing for Manchester United as the Northern Irishman prepares to take on his former club on Sunday.

Evans was no longer required at Old Trafford just over two years ago and was sold to West Brom for a reasonable £6million.

But Pardew, the newly installed manager at The Hawthorns, thinks Jose Mourinho could still fit Evans into his side now.

United can't afford to drop any more points if they harbour any hopes of catching neighbours Manchester City. Victory today would see them move 11 points behind Pep Guardiola's men again.

Meanwhile, victory for West Brom would do them the world of good. After Crystal Palace and West Ham both won yesterday, the Baggies now sit 19th. A win today would move them up to 14th.

Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial drop down to the bench for Ashley Young, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford respectively following the 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
