Chelsea recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Huddersfield in the Premier League on Tuesday but their supporters had a moment to forget at the John Smith's Stadium.

During a first half where Tiemoue Bakayoko and Willian gave Antonio Conte's side a 2-0 lead, the travelling fans broke into song: 'Champions of England, you'll never sing that.'

Except Huddersfield had, a good 31 years before Chelsea ever won the league.

The Terriers claimed their first ever league title in 1923-24, whereas Chelsea won theirs in 1954-55.

In recent years, however, the millions invested in Chelsea by owner Roman Abramovich has paved the way for a trophy-laden era in west London, while Huddersfield are competing in the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Since the Russian took over the club in 2003, Chelsea have won five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.

Huddersfield's rise, meanwhile, has come against the odds with the Yorkshire club tipped for a battle to maintain their place in the Championship at the start of last season.
