Burnley boss Sean Dyche happy with number of goalscoring options and team spirit: 'It's about being able to rely on everyone... we have that mentality and belief in each other'

Sean Dyche feels the quality and distribution of Burnley's goals this season have showcased his side's team ethic.

Scott Arfield is one of eight different players to hit the target for the Clarets in the Premier League at the weekend as a 1-0 home win against Watford lifted them to within two points of the Champions League places.

Next up for Dyche's side are Stoke on Tuesday night at Turf Moor and the Clarets boss hopes the goals continue to flow from all areas of the pitch.

'There's an obvious case for strikers being strikers and we want them to score, of course, but behind that it's a team event,' Dyche told the club's official website.

'It's not just about relying on anyone. It's relying on everyone, in fact. Goals can come from different areas of the pitch for different reasons and Saturday was a good show of it - and another good goal.'

Arfield, making his first start since October 21 due to Robbie Brady's long-term knee injury, weighed the angles quickly and slotted calmly into the corner after Jeff Hendrick had stepped over Johann Berg Gudmundsson's cross.

'There have been some really high-quality goals this season,' Dyche added. 'We crunched the pitch, we nicked the ball back, good calmness from Corky (Jack Cork) and then a deliberate pass into the box from Johann.

'It was clever play from Jeff Hendrick and then fantastic feet from Scott Arfield.'

Arfield, whose previous start had come in the defeat at Manchester City in October, was also on target to earn Burnley a point in their 1-1 draw at Liverpool in September.

'I think you'll find he knows the job and I was delighted for him,' Dyche said. 'It was a really good finish, clean feet and a nice calm slot.

'Yet again, the mentality of the players and the belief in each other is on show. That's got to continue, but it's intact, that's for sure.'

Captain Ben Mee will be assessed, but could return to action on Tuesday night after missing out against Watford due to a gashed knee.

Fellow defender Matt Lowton is still struggling with a knee injury which has kept him out of the last four matches, so Phil Bardsley is expected to continue at right-back.

Midfielder Brady is in rehabilitation after undergoing knee surgery last week and goalkeeper Tom Heaton is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder.
