Alan Pardew wrapped up warm on Thursday afternoon as he oversaw his West Brom side in training for the first time since replacing Tony Pulis this week.

And Pardew will be hoping he can get his underachieving squad to hit the ground running ahead of his opening game against former employers Crystal Palace.

Pulis was sacked last week after a 4-0 home defeat by Chelsea saw the Baggies edge ever closer to the Premier League drop zone.

West Brom are without a victory since August having failed to win any of their last 12 league games.

Pardew believes he will have his work cut out to quickly turn around West Brom's form, but insisted he was confident of bringing an attacking style to the Hawthorns during his unveiling on Wednesday.

'The most important fact is to win games, that's the bottom line,' Pardew said. 'Tony does that very well, but he does it in a different manner to me.

'My best teams, and I can only talk about myself, play on the front foot and try and put teams under pressure. They sometimes get a bloody nose in doing that. And that's what I'll deliver here at West Brom.

'In the short term, to get where I want to be for the Palace game will be difficult, and maybe even the Swansea game. Not long after that I'd like to think they'll have a good idea of what I want and expect.

'There's enough experience in that dressing room, people who have played at higher clubs than I've managed, to change our style a little bit and have success.

'Hopefully somewhere along that line we can get up to 1.5 or 1.7 points a game. I've achieved that in the past at certain times with clubs and that's what I'll try and do here.'

After the visit of bottom club Crystal Palace on Saturday, Pardew has a week to prepare his side for fellow strugglers Swansea before travelling to Liverpool in midweek.
