Barcelona are set to make a move for Tottenham attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window.

According to Don Balon, the 25-year-old is a the top of the Spanish club's wish list this winter, despite them being linked with several names over the past three months.Ā

Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp after failed bids in the summer, and there have also been suggestions the Catalan giants could move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

However, reports suggest that the Danish star is now their No 1 priority as they look to lure a world-class creative talent following the loss of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in August.Ā

Eriksen has been the driving force for Mauricio Pochettino's side over the last three seasons, and Barcelona will have a difficult time persuading Spurs to part with him.

He is contracted until 2020 having only signed a new deal in the summer of 2016, and with Daniel Levy a notoriously stubborn businessman, it will take a sizeable bid to convince the Premier League side to sell.

Eriksen and Spurs have both stuttered at the beginning of this season, with impressive displays in the Champions League tempered by their struggle to adapt to life at Wembley in the top flight.Ā

Despite the problems, the midfielder has still managed four goals and four assists across all competitions, and has impressed on the international stage too.

Eriksen was instrumental in helping Denmark reach the World Cup in Russia next summer, scoring a hat-trick against the Republic of Ireland to help them through the play-offs.
