Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola got involved in first-team training on Friday as his side prepare for their Premier League showdown with Huddersfield.

Guardiola showed no fear with mixing it with his stars and showed off at the beginning of their session by passing and volleying the ball to Bernardo Silva before taking his stand on the sidelines to cast a watchful eye over his players.

The spirits in the City camp seemed to be high as they trained at the Etihad Campus and there's no surprise why, considering they are yet to taste defeat in a competitive fixture this season and sit top of the Premier League, eight points clear.

Raheem Sterling, who bagged the winner in their last match against Feyenoord in the Champions League, was spotted laughing with team-mate David Silva as the pair were put through their paces in an el rondo training drill.

Sterling has been in impressive form for City and has already netted 11 times this campaign, equalling his haul for Liverpool four years ago and at City in 2015-16.

The City boss, Guardiola, is ecstatic with his performances and has challenged the England international to keep his goalscoring run going.

He said: 'He has to just focus on playing well and getting better.

'We're going to celebrate how many goals (he scores) and next season we're going to have that record to break.'

Other stars like Kevin de Bruyne, Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany were also on show during the light-hearted session.

Sergio Aguero, who Sportsmail revealed earlier this week will have to make do with a spot on the substitutes' bench every other Saturday due to Benjamin Mendy's injury, also was in attendance and took part in a short passing exercise.

He would have been eager to impress the City boss during the session with Gabriel Jesus preferred over him in their last Premier League match against Leicester.

Guardiola's side face newly-promoted Huddersfield at the John Smith Stadium in the late afternoon kick-off on Sunday.

Victory there would set a new record points tally of 37 after 13 games in the top flight and could put further distance between them and their second-placed rivals United.
