'It was a special moment that united our entire community and a powerful reminder of football's capacity to create magic in our lives.

'What I like most about Common Goal is that it taps into this same magic to change the world for good. It's about uniting all of us, the global football community, behind a shared commitment to give back.'

Bruno, who started his career with Espanyol in 1999, added: 'Over the past few years I think we've come to understand that, as players, we have a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the world. Many of us want to leave a mark that is more than our achievements on the pitch.'

The Common Goal initiative is now gaining encouraging momentum after a relatively slow start.

Bruno, who is the fourth Premier League player to sign up, follows confirmation of Wolfsburg midfielder Daniel Didavi joining too this week.

Common Goal is planning a grander announcement next Wednesday, November 29 and has lined up a new player to be announced each day building up to then.
