West Brom were brilliantly boring under Tony Pulis... I wouldn't pay to watch them but it worked

West Bromwich Albion became brilliantly boring under Tony Pulis — so sacking him is risky.

It all comes down to where the owners expect them to finish and how they expect them to play. Personally, I think every year they stay in the Premier League is a success.

Do the owners expect them to finish in the top eight? Realistically, West Brom are always going to be in a scrap.

If they want a better brand of football then it may have been better to wait until the end of the season. It's fanciful to expect them to do it now.

Crystal Palace tried to go down a different route and try another style with Frank de Boer and it ended in disaster.

You wouldn't pay to watch them under Pulis but if you look at his CV and the clubs he has kept in the top flight, his record is exceptional. He's had a decade of keeping mediocre teams in the Premier League.

For what he has done at the club, Pulis earned the right to have the home games against Newcastle and Crystal Palace, after this weekend's game against Spurs at Wembley.

It's not like they are cut adrift. They are not even in the relegation zone and are only three points away from 12th.

West Brom need another Pulis-type to do what Pulis did so well — keep them up.
