Watford boss Marco Silva insists that he knows his future is very much in 'his own hands' following Everton's attempts to secure his services.

The Toffees offered £8.5million for the 40-year-old Portuguese but Watford were quick to shut down their advances.

Sources close to the club say they are unwilling to release Silva at any price but the Merseysiders are still preparing to make an increased offer to the Hornets, as they seek a successor for Ronald Koeman.

However, Silva would offer any assurances that he would be staying at Vicarage Road after his side's 2-0 victory over West Ham.

He said: 'My players work with me. They know my commitment. My future is tomorrow, and starting to prepare for the next game. That is my future.

'Some things we cannot control. I know what is in my hands, and that is planning for the session tomorrow.'

The 40-year-old added that he didn't feel the speculation over his future was affecting his players.

'The way we have worked in the last week is the way we have worked since I arrived at the club,' he said.

'Today we performed really well again. We deserved the three points and it is an important three points for us.

‘For us, the last three defeats did not reflect what we did on the pitch. We performed really well and did not deserve those defeats.'
