Brighton boss Chris Hughton warns his side not to be complacent ahead of Stoke clash: 'We are facing a resilient team so we will have to be at our best'

Brighton boss Chris Hughton knows his players cannot afford a drop in work-rate if they are to get anything out of Monday night's visit of Stoke.

The Seagulls return to Premier League action following the international break aiming to build on a four-match unbeaten run which saw them record away wins at West Ham and Swansea.

Hughton has warned his team they must match those high standards to avoid being brought swiftly back down to earth by a Stoke side aiming to make it three games without defeat.

'We are on a good run and the two away wins over West Ham and Swansea are brilliant because at this level victories on the road are hard to come by,' Hughton said at a press conference, as quoted on the club's official website.

'We are back on home soil on Monday evening and it seems a long time since the game a few weeks ago at the Liberty Stadium.

'We hope that we have got the levels of the players right. We are up against a good and resilient side on Monday, so we will have to be at our best.'

Glenn Murray scored the only goal in the win over Swansea, which at the time lifted Brighton up into eighth place.

It was a fourth goal in three appearances for the veteran forward, who was an integral part of Hughton's side which won promotion as runners-up in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Hughton is confident there is plenty more to come from the 34-year-old.

The Brighton boss added: 'We know what we have in Glenn. He has been consistent wherever he has been and has always scored goals.

'Perhaps as you get a bit older and more experienced you lose a few bits from your game, but you never lose where the goal is.

'We are delighted that he has been able to do that with us because it is having a great impact on the team.'

Hughton added: 'As a club we want a striker that can contribute to the team first and foremost, whilst scoring goals, and at the moment that is what we are getting from him.'
