Tosun has scored nine goals in 14 games for Besiktas this season and 20 for Super Lig club last campaign.

Tosun was born in Germany but represents Turkey at international level, scoring eight in 20 for his country. He led the line in last Thursday’s 2-0 defeat in Romania too.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wants to add to his squad in the January window but is uncertain over funding with the club currently up for sale.
