New West Ham manager David Moyes insists Karren Brady did not mention his sexist remarks while at Sunderland

Newly-appointed West Ham manager David Moyes says he and Karren Brady did not discuss his 'slap' incident from his time at Sunderland.

It comes after Hammers vice-chairman Brady criticised the Scot for his off-mic comment in April about slapping a female reporter, labelling him 'sexist' in her newspaper column.

'If it's wrong to be a bit racist, it's also wrong to be a bit sexist, as Sunderland boss David Moyes found out earlier this week,' was the headline of her opinion piece.

Asked about that on Wednesday, Moyes said: 'It was Karren who I spoke to on the phone and it's Karren who I had a meeting with.

'I have said many times, I made a mistake. I apologised for the mistake right away. And as you can see wetly to journalists like this all the time, and sometimes it can go the wrong way, but I apologised for that.'

On whether they spoke about it, he added: 'She didn't discuss it at all. It was written six months ago so I don't think there was any need to do that.

'I've had two or three conversations with Karren and they have been very good. I quite enjoyed listening to her so hopefully we can have a good relationship.'
